Spread the love
On the afternoon of December 16th, our school opened its doors like a Ginger Bread house, and welcomed our beloved little friends and their families in a celebration of love and giving.
Welcoming them, Aglaia as always with her smile gave information about the beautiful things we had prepared for that evening.
In the kindergarten area, with Mrs. Marina at the piano, our children sang carols and Mrs. Potamianou, General Director of Together for Children, gave her welcome address to our Christmas Bazaar, the proceeds of which would support their work.
A short distance away, the red candy pot, filled with small treats for the children and our teacher tables. Mrs. Katerina at the table making ornaments with natural materials. Mrs. Marisa, at the candle making table. Laughter and creativity and most importantly, eagerness from our little ones for Santa Claus to appear!
Going up the stairs, our babies spent time with their beloved Mrs. Anna in a room that had been completely transformed into a messy playroom! In the room right next door, the children’s Christmas crafts were given by Mrs. Vasi, while at my table, along with Mrs. Demetra, we demonstrated the technique of decoupage on ornaments made from clay right next to the handmade decorations display!
Our beloved Mrs. Stella, behind the Cake Stand, the table which was quickly filled up with our moms’ delicious and lovingly made recipes, which were a hit!
A little further up, Christmas stories were read by ladies Asimina in Greek and Eleni in English in a room full of warmth.
The evening continued with the appearance of Santa Claus, the distribution of gifts from his big red sack and the treasure hunt that our kindergarten teachers had masterfully set up in the garden.
The holidays came and went by with the sweet memory of that evening and its important purpose for all of us.
So, on January 26, together with the children of our kindergarten and their teachers, we arrived at the headquarters of Together for Children, where Mrs. Potamianou and her colleagues welcomed us. Our children were toured all around their premises, were impressed by the collection area for essentials and the collection area for toys and other items suitable for children.
We all went to the conference room where we were greeted with juice and biscuits!
Our children were given papers and hearts to draw on. Ladies Potamianou, Antoniou (Product Sponsorship Networking Manager) and Tertipi (Social Worker) spoke to them in succession about the work of Together for Children, the concept of charity, how we can all contribute to make our world a better place by giving our help in any way we can and the needs of people who require it.
They answered their questions and at the end, our little ones after learning that the total amount raised at our Christmas bazaar will support a single-parent family with essential goods for six months, they handed over with their little hands two beautiful place mats that they had prepared themselves.
The heavy rain in downtown Athens was rather sweetened by the warm atmosphere and the power of love and giving, allowed us to return to our school safely and with hearts full of gratitude.
We would like to thank Mrs. Potamianou and all her colleagues for giving us the opportunity to contribute to the valuable work of Together for Children.
We thank our parents and partners for their strong and meaningful participation in our initiative!
Spread the Love!
